Organisers have hailed the outstanding success of the inaugural Show and Shine Day which raised more than $35,000 for the Kids with Cancer Foundation.
The fundraiser attracted more than 700 people when it was held at Bellevue Parade, Carlton last Saturday.
Event organiser Elie Hannoun said both the amount raised and the number of people attending was an unexpected surprise.
“It was the first time we held the event and I think we will do it on a yearly basis,” he said.
Also attending on the day were Bayside Council mayor Bill Saravinovski and Rockdale MP Steve Kamper.
The day included a supercar show and plenty of kids activities including a jumping castle, farm animals, face painting ice cream trucks, and a sausage sizzle.
Local Police and Fire Rescue also brought their vehicles for the kids’ entertainment.
All funds raised will go the Kids with Cancer Foundation, a non-profit children’s charity that cares for young children with cancer and their families across Australia.
Inter Infra NSW and Dilcara Construction hosted the non-profit community event.
